Born in Austin, Tx, Clifton started out writing his own brand of music in 1981. In 1982 he began introducing himself to the Dallas music scene appearing at local venues such as Poor David’s Pub, The Texas Tea House, The Saloon and other Lower Greenville Ave. venues. He won the Mesquite Folk Festival “Rising Star Songwriter’s Competition” in 1984 and also formed “The Shifters” that same year. The group began making regular appearances at venues in Oklahoma City , Dallas ’s West End and Deep Ellum districts. During this period Clifton penned eighteen songs for two separate albums. “Living in the City” was released in 1985 and very soon after that, the group’s sound transformed into more of a blues/swing groove which was captured on the “Rock n Roll Daddy” album released in 1986. The group disbanded in 1990 and Clifton left the local music scene to focus on family but continued to write new songs.

In 2008 he released “EightyNine” with ten original songs and after a lengthy hiatus is now back on the North Texas music scene singing his stories about love, life and the human condition. Watch for him around town performing with his group “Munroe & Co.” and with “PopJamBlue” at some of your favorite local music venues. Thanks for visiting this site!
